We're moving!

We're moving our new stories to Denison.edu, the college's super-sweet mothership. Over time, we'll be moving some of our best past stories from TheDEN over there too. In the meantime, we've made available an archive of all stories here. This archive will be available for a few months before this site is permanently shut down. See you at Denison.edu! - June 2016

When the students are away…

Although the students don’t come back to campus until next Monday (January 20), staffers and some faculty have been back since January 2, working away and gearing up for the spring semester.

Slayter has been quiet during the lunch hour without the general student population swarming the joint looking for sustenance. Truth be told, it’s just unnatural, and it seems some folks — the women’s basketball team, for example — have gotten pretty creative in breathing some life into the noon hour in the student union.

Yesterday (January 8), during a Faculty Appreciation Luncheon for the women’s basketball team, the players planned for a little karaoke fun in The Pit. It wasn’t long before they were calling for their coaches to take the mic. And, not wanting to disappoint their fans, Head Coach Sara Lee and assistant coaches Kayla Gordon and Lori Shulman ’99 joined former player and student Paige Robnett ’14 in a rockin’ version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

It was quite a show — and the only thing missing, besides the rest of the student body, of course, were the chants for “Free Bird.”

Believe it or not, this is not the biggest news coming from Big Red athletics today: Swimmer Damon Rosenburg ’15  from Leesburg, Va., is featured in this week’s Sports Illustrated. Visit DenisonBigRed.com for the full story.
