We're moving!

We're moving our new stories to Denison.edu, the college's super-sweet mothership. Over time, we'll be moving some of our best past stories from TheDEN over there too. In the meantime, we've made available an archive of all stories here. This archive will be available for a few months before this site is permanently shut down. See you at Denison.edu! - June 2016

Frosty fun

Ah, February. A little snow here, a hint of sunshine there, and cold temperatures all around. It’s enough to make you want to huddle indoors with a warm blanket and a cup of soup.

But University Programming Council (UPC) and Campus Leadership & Involvement (CLIC) teamed up to combat hibernation with Winter Week, chock full of activities and events.

“We wanted to bring the campus together to enjoy the winter weather,” explained Heather Weinstock  ’13 of Cincinnati, Ohio, a UPC committee member.

It kicked off last Monday with a hot cocoa bar in Slayter and, later in the evening, a stuffed animal-making station. Other activities during the week included an ice sculpting show, a personal health care drive with help from the Denison Community Association, a showing of The Gray sponsored by the Denison Film Society, and, to put some magic in the air, a psychic fair featuring mediums and tarot card readers.

The week culminated on Saturday with the annual Winter Dance. Held in the Burton D. Morgan Center’s Welsh Hills Room, students danced the night away with the help of Stuart, Fla, senior Scot Fenton’s DJ skills.

“The main goal was to provide students with a week full of fun,” said UPC committee member Tali Lekorenos ’13 of Concord, Mass. “It was a way for students to celebrate the winter months and escape the cold.”
