We're moving!

We're moving our new stories to Denison.edu, the college's super-sweet mothership. Over time, we'll be moving some of our best past stories from TheDEN over there too. In the meantime, we've made available an archive of all stories here. This archive will be available for a few months before this site is permanently shut down. See you at Denison.edu! - June 2016

It’s official

Earthmovers and excavators have been at work pushing dirt around outside the Mitchell Recreation and Athletics Center for a few weeks now, but on Friday, Oct. 15, it all became official.

A crowd of some 200 Denison alumni, trustees, students, faculty, and staff gathered in front of the Mitchell Center to witness the ceremonial groundbreaking of a $38.5 million renovation and addition, which will boast a new natatorium with an Olympic-size pool, diving well and spectator seating for more than 1,000. Later phases of the project will include a two-story fitness center and a new training suite, as well as a Hall of Fame and offices for athletics staff.

Chair of the Board of Trustees Tom Hoaglin ’71 led the festivities, which included remarks by President Dale Knobel, Athletics Director Larry Scheiderer, and the projects’ lead donor, trustee Lou Mitchell ’57.
